Summer Youth Employment Program
Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP): Recycle-A-Bicycle is a worksite through the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). SYEP is a federally funded program and operates in conjunction with NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD). Youth must apply to participate in the seven week summer program and are selected by a lottery process. SYEP participants at Recycle-A-Bicycle learn bike mechanics, environmental stewardship, and community service.

Job Placement: Recycle-A-Bicycle assists each of our interns with job readiness and placement. In addition to bike mechanics and environmental education, youth and adult interns receive assistance with resume preparation, interview preparation, and a basic training in customer service. Participants are offered in-depth job readiness support through the Henry Street Settlement Workforce Development Center. As a result of these efforts, several youth and adult interns are placed in jobs throughout the city every year.
